I was born in England to an American father and an English mother, which gave me dual nationality. As I was growing up, I spent a large part of my summer vacations at my grandparents motel in the Catskill mountains. Here, I developed my love for America and my desire to one day live in the good US of A.  Having a multinational family gave me opportunities I otherwise would not have had.

I spent much of my youth travelling with my family and spent a lot of time in various areas of Germany where my family stems from on my father's side. My brother and his family still reside in Germany and I enjoyed many happy vacations (with far too much drinking and eating) there.

As I was growing up I never felt quite at home in England and felt like something was missing. During this time I found my creative urge to write poetry, some of which was published in anthologies and some won local competitions. I had many stories buzzing around in my head but never had the desire to write them down.

I started to write the odd article which I was fortunate enough to have published in a couple of women's magazines and the desire to write professionally prompted me to take a creative writing course.

The call for American life proved to be too strong, and the week before September 11th I moved with my husband and daughter to Florida and at last I felt at home. When I fell pregnant with my second daughter, I decided to finally write down some of the stories that had been in my head and so was born Life at the Lake. The rest as they say is history.....
